Green Smoothies
When I visit our new urban home, I go out for a green smoothie. The other day I was putting together Ikea bookshelves in our 80 degree place (due mostly to the cooking of rice and beans in the kitchen) with Bethany (OK, she was doing most of the putting together and I was trying to let Fredrik scoot around on a small designated "clean" area), and I had had enough. I needed a walk to the Co-op (destined to be my mecca of familiarity). We loaded up the umbrella stroller and took a walk to Mississippi Market. To Beth's disgust, I bought a 16 oz. freshly juiced Cuke Skywalker, complete with cucumber, parsley, celery and apple. Yum. No really, it is good. Bethany scoffed and I assured her, she would hate it if she tried it. On the way back we took Summit since it was dark outside and it's well lit and populated and I thought, you know, whatever happened to going out for a beer? Since when do I go our for a Cuke Skywalker to wind down? Then I started to think of other things that I miss since I've had a baby. Mostly, I miss having a fully functioning brain.

Mmmmmm....sounds disgusting. You are a veggie queen. Maybe you'll have to make me a "Han Rolo" smoothie - get it? Made of Rolo candies. I can't wait to see your new city digs!
Yeah. I'd have to agree with Bethany and Amy. Sounds disgusting! Glad you like it though. When do you move here for good?
I have to agree - the green smoothies are surprisingly delicious! (except the one we made during our Women's Farm Week was even better b/c it had KALE as well!)
p.s. When I come to visit, we are going out for a beer!!!
I love green smoothies - BIG TIME!
One of my favorites is my Fluffy Green Smoothie
1-2 cups water
1-2 handsful spinach
2 apples
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Blend it up and yum! A perfect fall breakfast :)
Cheers,
Kristen
So, let's be clear on this. We're not talking juicing the tasty greens, but actually blending them? Are we adding ice?
Also, Aksel is a huge fan of the Green Machine. People often give me the, "Sha-Right your kid's gonna drink this" look when I buy them en masse. And, then I open it and my boy chugs it. I do SO love proving people wrong.
Peace out and bring on the spirulina.
The Cuke Skywalker is juiced. The green smoothies I've made are blended. My blender is not great so they are chewy and chunky. I drink them medicinally, not for pleasure. The juiced drinks are very good, even the celery and parsely. I have a Jack Lelane (spelling???) juicer but I guess they are not the ones to use since they are basket-style and they supposedly oxidize the enzymes or something. Whatever.
